Habit: Extensive mats, creeping rhizomes, many runners.
Size: Carpet of leaves 5-10 cm, flowers 10-15 cm high.
Flowers: Similar to strawberries, yellow; April to May.
Leaves: Semi-evergreen, three-parted roundish, shiny dark green, bronze in autumn.
Demands: Sun in regularly moist areas, otherwise light shade to shade, frost hardy, likes cool, humid semi-shade.
Soil: Moderately dry to fresh, humic, sandy loam or loam.
