Habit: Twining (trellis) climber, dense twigs, 5-9 m tall, woody at the base, form roots in moist places, slow-growing.
Flowers: Initially pure white, later cream, 2.5 cm long, very fragrant, on long, loose cymes in the upper leaf axils, mid to late summer.
Leaves: Evergreen, elliptical to lanceolate, leathery, shiny dark green, up to 10 cm long, bronze-red in winter, with milky sap.
Demands: Sun to semi-shade, needs protection, sensitive to frost, cold house, cut in early spring, dry in winter.
Natural habitat: Loamy, nutritious, well drained.
