Habit: Large shrub, 2-4 (7) m tall, 2-3 m wide; various shoots, bushy upright, fast-growing.
Flowers: Creamy white, always seven small single flowers on a head, in terminal panicles, elongated slender petals, white stamen, fragrant, August to November (first flowers in June).
Fruits: Berries, 1 cm long, purple red to bright pink, fruits are surrounded by bright pink petals, very decorative, usually only in appropriate climates.
Leaves: Deciduous, elongated, oval, oppositely arranged, prominently 3-veined, dark green above, bright green beneath, early shoots; persistent in autumn, attractive.
Demands: Sun, hardy, moderate, tolerates dry periods in summer, resistant to urban climates, likes warmth.
Soil: Adaptable, fresh to moderately dry, nutritious substrates.
Note: Ornamental late flowering shrub with very decorative fruits.
