Eleagnus multiflora (= E. edulis) (eastern Asia)
Habit: Shrub, dense and broadly bushy, 3 m tall and wide; almost domed, twigs blackish, no thorns.
Flowers: Light yellow, sweetish fragrance, in masses, May.
Fruits: Like cherries, but smaller, brownish red, from July on, edible, sour.
Leaves: Decid green or semi-evergreen in temperate areas; pale green on top, silvery with brown scales underneath.
Roots: Shallow, no runners, collects nitrogen.
