Catalpa bignonioides ‘Aurea’
Habit: Small tree, 6-8 (10), 5-8 m wide, round crown, wider than tall when old, very slow-growing.
Flowers: White with light yellow perianth; June to July.
Leaves: Cordate, very late shoots, bright golden yellow when shooting, later citrus yellow, light green at end of summer, in September.
Demands: Sun to semi-shade, leaf colour less intense in the shade; avoids heat, better for normal to cool areas, moderately frost hardy, needs high humidity.
Soil: Fresh to moist, not drying out, otherwise leaves turn yellow.
Hardiness: Zone 6b
