Berberis ottawensis ‘Auricoma’
Note: The Ottowan barberries are hybrids of the European Berberis vulgaris and the Japanese B. thunbergii. The result is a remarkably strong-growing barberry; we sell only red-leaf types with especially intense colours.

Fruits: Ovoid, light red berries; edible.
Leaves: Exceptionally large leaves, 4-5 cm, broadly oval, shoots intense dark red, later greenish red, red hues from orange to scarlet in autumn, from end of September.
Demands: Full sun or shade; loses its typical leaf colour in the shade, frost hardy.
Soil: Dry to fresh.
Hardiness: Zone 6
