Berberis hookeri (Himalayas)
Habit: One of the most beautiful small shrubs, 1-1.5 m tall, 1-1.5 m wide; dense, upright to arching.
Flowers: Yellow, May to June.
Fruits: Ovoid, like berries, bluish black, unpalatable.
Leaves: Evergreen, elongated, up to 8 cm, shiny dark green on top, bluish white underneath; needle-like leaf margins.
Demands: Partially sunny to lightly shady; tolerates heat, warm to cool, moderately frost hardy, needs high humidity.
Soil: Slightly dry to fresh; acidic to alkaline, all well drained substrates.
