Berberis gagnepainii ‘Klugowski’ (= B. ‘Klugowski’)
Habit: Small shrub, 1-2 m tall; 1-2 m wide; broadly round with dense twigs; initially upright, later overhanging; slow-growing.
Flowers: Yellow, May to June.
Fruits: Elongated, ovoid berries, blue-black, unpalatable.
Leaves: Lanceolate, up to 5 cm long, dark green, shiny, clearly bluish white underneath; thorny on the margins.
Roots: Fine, shallow root system.
Demands: Partially sunny, better shady to slightly shady; warm to cool, usually frost hardy; resistant to urban and industrial pollution.
Soil: Slightly dry to fresh; slightly acidic to very alkaline, all well drained substrates.
