Berberis frikartii ‘Amstelveen’ (= B. candidula ‘Amstelveen’)
Habit: Attractive small shrub, 1.2-1.5 m tall and wide, round, compact and squat, lateral twigs decoratively overhanging; slow or moderately growing.
Flowers: Yellow; May.
Fruits: Elongated, ovoid berries, blue-black, unpalatable.
Leaves: Evergreen, elliptical, shiny green, light blue to white underneath, some thorns on the margins.
Demands: Shady to semi-shady; warm to cool, usually frost hardy; high humidity, resistant to urban pollution and industrial fumes.
Soil: Dry to fresh; acidic to slightly alkaline, all well drained substrates.
