Aesculus carnea ‘Briotii’ (= A. rubicunda ‘Briotii’)
Habit: Medium-size tree, 8-12 (15) m tall, 6-10 m wide; compact, round crown with dense foliage; main shoots are stiffly upright, lower branches horizontal, hardly overhanging; slow-growing, 10-30 cm a year.
Flowers: Bright red panicles, middle to end of May.
Leaves: Dark green, shiny, palmate, yellow or green in October.
Roots: Shallow to cordate roots, lifts pavements, keep at least 1 m distance from stem.
Demands: Sunny to slightly shady, likes warmth, frost hardy, tolerates urban pollution; wind resistant.
Soil: Prefers fresh, well drained, loamy substrates; adaptable.
